Here are six of those discourses, each cut as a scroll film you move through with your own scroll wheel, and each paired with an article that lays out the record in full. Paper 170 · 195Scroll filmThe whole gospel in one idea. Not a nation, not an institution, not a reward after death, but the rule of a loving God in a willing human heart, on offer now.
“"The kingdom of God is within you" was probably the greatest pronouncement Jesus ever made, next to the declaration that his Father is a living and loving spirit.”(195:10.4)
Paper 142 · 5Scroll filmA stranger from Damascus asked how anyone can be sure they belong to God. Jesus answered with four pillars of certainty that still hold: the Father’s heart, sonship, the Spirit, and love.
“If you receive God as your Father, then indeed and in truth are you the sons of God. And if you are sons, then are you secure in the position and standing of all that concerns eternal and divine sonship.”(142:5.2)
Paper 143 · 2Scroll filmAndrew asked whether to practice self-denial like John, or self-control. Jesus answered that real mastery is not gritted teeth. It is a life transformed from the inside, ruled by love.
“Verily, verily, I say to you, he who rules his own self is greater than he who captures a city. Self-mastery is the measure of man’s moral nature and the indicator of his spiritual development.”(143:2.3)
Paper 133 · 5Scroll filmAt Athens, after a Greek philosopher argued for three hours, Jesus answered with a view of science, religion, and philosophy centuries ahead of the room, where matter and spirit are one reality.
“Science deals with physical-energy activities; religion deals with eternal values. True philosophy grows out of the wisdom which does its best to correlate these quantitative and qualitative observations.”(133:5.4)
A two-part discourse from the road home from Rome, on when to intervene, who gets to judge, and the dignity of the person almost everyone else overlooked.
Paper 133 · 1Scroll filmJesus rescued a boy from a bully, then stopped his own student from punishing the bully. Mercy is the work of the individual; justice belongs to the group.
“Ganid, mercy may be lavish, but justice is precise.”(133:1.2)
Paper 133 · 2Scroll filmAt a dock in Tarentum, Jesus stopped a man mistreating his wife, not by force but by a question and a kindly smile, then taught the equal dignity of the wife as a partner with God.
“The loving care and consideration which a man is willing to bestow upon his wife and their children are the measure of that man’s attainment of the higher levels of creative and spiritual self-consciousness.”(133:2.2)
