Two hundred thousand years of insurrection, thirty seven fallen worlds, one room that had to empty itself in order to agree, and a permanent classification for the people who did not go along.
The Urantia Book contains the longest and most detailed account ever written of what one self-admiring personality does to everyone within reach, and of what happens to the ones who refuse to go along. This series reads that account as what it functionally is: a case study in the anatomy of a self, the mechanics of a captured system, and the specific, unglamorous qualities that show up in the people who hold. It runs at two scales. First a solar system, over two hundred thousand years. Then one week, in one city, around one man who would not play the part he had been assigned.
The name is not ours. It is the revelation’s own term for a class of beings who came through it.
“They are a class of perfected mortals who have been rebellion tested or otherwise equally proved as to their personal loyalty; all have passed through some definite test of universe allegiance. At some time in their Paradise ascent they stood firm and loyal in the face of the disloyalty of their superiors, and some did actively and loyally function in the places of such unfaithful leaders.”(22:2.1)
These pages discuss patterns of abuse. They are a reading of a revelatory text, not clinical advice and not a diagnosis of anyone. If you are in danger, your safety comes first, and nothing here should be read as a reason to remain anywhere unsafe. Three who fell and five who held. Every quote below is verbatim from The Urantia Book, verified against source.
Lucifer
Fell
System Sovereign of Satania. Originated the rebellion from a position of privilege and warmth.
“No one ever suggested rebellion to Lucifer. The idea of self-assertion in opposition to the will of Michael and to the plans of the Universal Father, as they are represented in Michael, had its origin in his own mind. His relations with the Creator Son had been intimate and always cordial.”(53:2.3)
Caligastia
Fell
Planetary Prince of Urantia. Betrayed the world he governed, and the record of the onset is unusually clinical.
“I did not then comprehend that Caligastia was insidiously falling in love with himself; I did not then so fully understand the subtleties of personality pride.”(66:1.5)
Judas
Fell
The apostle who defected. Unlike Lucifer, who had no wound and no excuse, Judas was made, and the record of how is unsparing about the household that made him.
“Judas was an only son of unwise parents. When very young, he was pampered and petted; he was a spoiled child. As he grew up, he had exaggerated ideas about his self-importance.”(139:12.6)
Jesus
Held
The one who would not play the role a system had assigned him, and who could not be moved by any of the things that move everyone else.
“Jesus had acquired that type of human character which could preserve its composure and assert its dignity in the face of continued and gratuitous insult. He could not be intimidated.”(186:2.5)
Van
Held
The jurist who appealed over his own ruler to a higher court, won immediately, and then held a wrecked world together for over a hundred and fifty thousand years without ever being told.
“Only recently was this actual ruling discovered lodged in the possession of a relay energy transmitter where it had been marooned ever since the isolation of Urantia.”(67:6.9)
Amadon
Held
A human volunteer with no universe experience who resisted seven years of direct argument, then held the line beside Van for over a hundred and fifty thousand years.
“The Lucifer rebellion was withstood by many courageous beings on the various worlds of Satania; but the records of Salvington portray Amadon as the outstanding character of the entire system in his glorious rejection of the flood tides of sedition”(67:8.1)
Lanaforge
Held
The deputy who watched his own chief fall in an earlier rebellion, refused to follow, and took the government instead.
“Lanaforge, the first assistant to the erring chief, seized the reins of government and so conducted the affairs of the system that comparatively few personalities were lost either on the headquarters worlds or on the inhabited planets of that unfortunate system.”(45:2.3)
The United Midwayers
Held
The corps that stayed, and the ones who eventually went into the archives and found Van the verdict he never received.
“The United Midwayers are a rebellion-tested corps, and they will faithfully enact their part in planetary evolution until this world attains the goal of the ages.”(77:9.10)
What the Text Says
Eight claims people get wrong about the rebellion, each with the passage that settles it.
“I am your Creator-father; I can hardly judge you justly, and my mercy you have already spurned. I commit you to the adjudication of the Judges of a greater universe.”(134:8.7)
Jesus said this to Caligastia directly on Mount Hermon. Note what it is not. It is not a pardon, and it is not a curse. He declines the seat of judge, names his own conflict of interest, and transfers jurisdiction to a court.

Articles published here before the series had a name, all of them part of the same story.
“On Jerusem the ascenders from these isolated worlds occupy a residential sector by themselves and are known as the agondonters, meaning evolutionary will creatures who can believe without seeing, persevere when isolated, and triumph over insuperable difficulties even when alone.”
